Applications Open for the 2026 DiSE Programme
Young snowsport athletes with ambitions of competing at the highest level are being encouraged to apply for the 2026 Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme.
Delivered by Snowsport England in partnership with Loughborough College, the government-funded programme is designed to help talented athletes balance their sporting ambitions with their education while developing the skills needed for long-term success both in and beyond competitive sport. The qualification is worth 64 UCAS points and combines athletic development with valuable personal and professional skills.
The two-year programme supports athletes through a blend of online learning, tutorials and practical development. Alongside technical, tactical and physical performance, participants also explore areas including nutrition, clean sport, psychology, career planning, financial management, communication skills and personal wellbeing.
The DiSE programme is aimed at young athletes who demonstrate the potential to progress within the British snowsport pathway while continuing their academic studies. It provides a structured framework that recognises the demands of pursuing elite sport alongside education and prepares athletes for future dual careers.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the Department for Education's learner criteria, be members of Snowsport England, hold a FIS International Licence and either be selected to a Snowsport England or GB Snowsport squad, or demonstrate performances that meet the required standard.
With only a limited number of places available each year, the programme offers a valuable opportunity for aspiring ski and snowboard athletes to gain recognised qualifications while continuing their sporting journey.
